Around Pittsburgh
Travelers have a variety of ways to get around Pittsburgh once they've arrived, including traditional transportation like taxis and public transit, as well as newer ideas like ZipCar.
From the Airport
The Route 28X (Airport Flyer) bus is a city bus that runs between Pittsburgh International Airport and downtown. Buses leave the airport seven days a week approximately every 20 minutes, and the trip takes approximately 45 minutes. One-way fare from the airport to downtown is $2.25 for adults and $1.10 for children and people with disabilities; as with any Allegheny County Port Authority bus, senior citizens (65+) can ride free if they show their Medicare cards to the driver. The bus stop on this route nearest the hotel is 7th Avenue and William Penn Place; the hotel's main entrance is one block away at 6th Avenue and William Penn Place.
NEW! SuperShuttle now serves Pittsburgh International Airport. The single-person fare to and from the Omni William Penn is $19 each way; groups of up to 10 can reserve a private van for $90 one way. Get fare quotes and make your reservations at www.supershuttle.com or call 800/258-3826.
Taxis and rental cars are available at the airport. Taxi rates are around $40 from the airport to the hotel.
Public Bus
The Port Authority operates multiple bus routes that connect the city. Detailed information on fares and schedules can be found at their Web site.
Light Rail
Pittsburgh has a safe 25.2-mile subway and light rail system, the "T." The T serves downtown Pittsburgh with a four-stop loop including stops at Steel Plaza at Grant Street, Gateway Center Plaza (Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street), Wood Street and the First Avenue Parking Garage. Travel within downtown Pittsburgh is free. The subway will also deliver you across the river to Station Square on the South Side for a minimal fare. For more information, schedules and maps, visit the Port Authority Web site.
